Our mother Lil MacIvor left this world peacefully on the morning of June 26th, 2023. She was born June 12 1923 in Washabuck, Victoria County, the daughter of the late Neil P.S. and Christena MacLean.
She is survived by two daughters, Dolly (Ed) Price, Mississauga and Ann, Sydney, one son Daniel (Adrian) Toronto/Sydney, seven grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and many beloved nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband of 47 years Buster, her sons Gerry (Anna) and Joe (Valerie) both of Sydney, her brother Bennie MacLean of Sydney Mines, her sister Madeleine (Northen) of Little Narrows, and seven step-brothers: James, Neil, Francis, Matt, Peter, Michael and John.
Lil was an active member of St. Marguerite Bourgeoys Parish in Sydney where for many years she was a member of the CWL. She was also a loyal volunteer with Mass For Shut-ins and worked in palliative care at St. Rita’s and Cape Breton Regional Hospitals. As a young woman she began working at the Isle Royal Hotel in Sydney where she remained for 35 years enjoying her time there and making many good friends.
Visitation will be held at TW Curry Parkview Chapel on Sunday July 2nd from 2:00 - 4:00 pm and 7:00 - 9:00 pm and a Funeral Mass will be held at St Marguerite Bourgeoys in Sydney on Monday July 3rd at 11:00 am with internment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Washabuck. Masks will be provided and are advised to be worn when attending. For those unable to attend, the Funeral Mass will be livestreamed via TW Curry's facebook page.
