Mark Michael McGuire, 50 of Sydney, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital after a lengthy illness.

Born in Sydney, he was the son of Pat and Anna (Morrison) McGuire of Sydney.

First and foremost a horseman, Mark loved nothing more than spending time caring for and showing his beloved quarter horses. He was a lifelong member of the Cape Breton Western Riding Association and the Maritime Barrel Racing Association. Mark attended horse shows across the Atlantic Provinces annually. He was an accomplished rider and was an overall champion many times. He wass an employee of P. McGuire Transfer & Storage. A private man, Mark will always be remembered for his quiet strength, loyalty and dedication to friends and family.

He is survived by his loving companion Kate Swinamer, sister Anna Marie (Peter); brothers Jim (Colleen); Glenn and 2 nephews Patrick and Chad, all of Sydney.

There will be no visitation for the late Mr. McGuire. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday at 10 am at St. Theresa’s Church with Rev. Jim Oliver officiating. Interment in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks. Arrangements are entrusted to T.W.Curry Parkview Chapel.
