80 – Westmount
With great sadness we announce the passing of our mother, Marion Ethel Lewis, formerly of Westmount on Monday, March 2, 2015 at the Maple Hill Manor, New Waterford.
Marion was born in St. Thomas, Ontario September 23, 1934. She was the daughter of the late Harold and Hazel (Binks) Schnekenburger.
She graduated from the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital School of Nursing in1955 as a registered nurse. A former recipient of the Westmount Citizen of the year, Marion spent her life in service to both her family and community. Although she participated as a volunteer in many capacities in the Westmount area; her passion was working Track and Field events.
She is survived by son Paul (Kim), four daughters; Janice (Leo) Kanne, Colleen (Terry) Stewart, Denise (John) MacLean and Monica (Steve) Bellefontaine, all of Nova Scotia; sisters; Grace Wilson, Ruth Thomson, Shirley Whitton and Thelma Winship; nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren; godson, Kenny, wife Debbie and daughter Abby Leon; and many nieces and nephews.
Marion was predeceased by her husband Lloyd, son, Blaise Dennis and granddaughter, Jillian.
Visitation for the late Mrs. Lewis will take place on Thursday, March 5 from 2-4 & 7-9 pm; funeral service will be celebrated on Friday, March 6 at 10 am with Rev. Doug Murphy officiating, both at T.W.Curry Parkview Chapel, 755 George St. Sydney.
At this time, our family would like to express sincere gratitude to the staff of Maple Hill Manor, New Waterford. Their tireless dedication providing continuous care, has been a tremendous source of comfort for our Mom over the past number of years.
