We the family with heartfelt sadness regret to announce the passing of Madeline Theresa (Hollohan) Moss of Sydney on October 26, 2019 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital. Madeline was born to William and Johanna (Cashin) Hollohan of Whitney Pier on October 13, 1934.
Madeline is survived by her sons, Glenn, Sydney, Kevin (Harriett), Port Caledonia, Darren (Jennifer), Westmount and daughter, Jo-Ann (Doug Mombourquette), Sydney; grandchildren, Nicole (Lawrence), Megan, Breagh (Kyle), Kyle, Alyssa (Daniel), Alex, Jordan, and Carlie; brother, Ted (Joan), Alberta and sister, Margie Gallivan, Connecticut, ex-husband , Leo Moss. Also survived by many special nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Madeline was predeceased by her brothers, Paul (Selena), Tom (Annie), Jim (Eva “Babe”), Richard, Donnie (Inez); sisters, Mary(Malcolm) MacAulay, Sr. Elizabeth Hollohan; brother in law, James Gallivan.
Madeline was a woman of great faith; she graduated from Normal College in Truro with her teaching diploma in 1954. She taught school in Sydney until her children were born and then became a full time mother.
Madeline was an avid dart player, meticulous seamstress, loved to play cards, read, crochet, skate, knit, swim and travel. She especially enjoyed family gatherings and being surrounded by her loved ones.
Thanks to MacGillivary Guest Home where she resided the past 2 years. A special thanks to An Cala Palliative Care Unit at the CBRH.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated, 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 31, 2019 at Saint Theresa’s Church, Fr. Dennis Lamey will officiate.
Donations in memory may be made to the Hospice Palliative Care of Cape Breton.
