It is with heavy hearts that the family of Lenore Margaret Lewis (nee Adams) of Halifax, announces her passing on January 13, 2024. Born in 1929 to James and Irene (Hollis) Adams of Westmount, she was the eldest of 11 children. In 1948, she married Thomas Lewis of Edwardsville, where they resided and raised six children. She began working early in life, in her teens as a ward clerk, at the old City Hospital, then Shaw's Grocery, Buckley's Drug Store, Manson's Pharmacy, all in Sydney, and finally O'Brien's Pharmacy in Halifax before retiring in 1994. Lenore enjoyed working, meeting new people, engaging in lively conversation, and "...having a good laugh" as she would say. For fun she loved hockey, and the occasional outing at the casino with friends. But as a loving mother and grandmother, she was happiest at family events, surrounded by her children. She will always be remembered for her vivacious personality, lust for life, her kindness and beauty; but the essence of her character, was her indomitable spirit. Thank you, Mom, for your hard work and dedication. You are the rock on which our close family is built. We will miss your love, hugs and gentle smile, you will be forever in our hearts. Lenore was predeceased by her parents; husband Tommy; daughter, Sarah; granddaughter, Jillian; brothers, James, Charles and William, sisters; Edith Finney, Eileen Jewett, and Florence Roberts. She is survived by her son Brad Lewis daughters, Marjorie Weekes (Tom), Eileen Ewert, Kim Lewis (Paul), Alexis Lewis, and son-in-law Paul Norman. Grandchildren and great grandchildren include Natalie Aucoin (Rick), Gavin and Brody; Chad Norman (Candace) Isen and Logan; Heidi McLaughlin (Troy), Hayley and Torin; Erika Angot (Dave); Geoff Ewert (Jennie); Chris Ewert (Maya), baby Paisley; Ashley Little (Chris); Robert Weekes; siblings Rose Sigut, Phyllis Adams, Shirley Armstrong, Ellen MacKinnon and numerous nieces and nephews. A church service will be held on Wednesday, January 24th at the Church of Christ the King, 19 Trinity Avenue, Sydney at 11:00 am. Tea and coffee will be served following the service. Burial will take place at a later date.
