Born in Sydney, he was the son of the late Lawrence H. and Mary (Macdonald) Robertson. Lawrence was a man of professional variety, working in a number of roles over the years (but always working with people). Many will remember fondly his friendly and boisterous demeanor from behind the counter at the Sherman Williams paint store in town. Larry is also well known for his presence on the airwaves; a number of years hosting programs on CHER radio in Sydney, he is remembered fondly by coworkers and listeners alike. Between him and his brother Terrance 'Terry R' Robertson, there are few people in Cape Breton Island who haven't been treated to one of their performances over the years. After a long and successful career as an entertainer, Lawrence partnered up with his brother Allan in an Insurance Brokerage (A.J. Robertson Insurance) on Kings road, where they operated successfully for many years until their retirements.
He is survived by his son, Brett (Jessica), and daughter, Katie (Jonathan), as well as his grandchildren Benjamin and Marelyn. He will also be missed by his brothers Donnie, Phonse (Doreen), and Allan (Margaret) Robertson, and his sister Joan (Klaus) Krombholz. Larry also leaves behind brother in law Gerald Smith, and sister in law Maureen Robertson, as well as brother in law David (Darlene). He will be sadly missed by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Besides his parents, Larry was predeceased by his wife Jacalyn; brothers Terrance and Jack, sisters Rosemary and Trudy; sisters in law Sandra and Joanne, as well as his in-laws Martha and Jimmy Macmullen, and his stepmother Jacqueline.
A Funeral service will be held at TW Curry Parkview Chapel on Wednesday February 16, 2022, at 11 am with Fr. Bill Burke officiating. Proof of vaccination and I.D. required to attend service. A Public Celebration of Life will be announced in the spring due to limited seating at service.
