It is with a broken heart that we announce the passing of my beloved husband Joe Camilli after a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 62.
Born in Sydney, he was affectionately known to most as Peppie, the beloved son of Angelo and Giuseppina Camilli. He was a devoted husband of 30 years to his loving wife Vivian.
Joe was an amazing husband, son, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
He was a master of many trades and the work he provided was second to none. He established a company called Empire Concrete and he began to build his Empire by working tirelessly. He took exceptional pride in his workmanship and his many talents went above and beyond. This could clearly be seen in the fine detail of the many homes he built over the years especially his home on the Mira.
Family meant the world to Joe, he gave his all to those he loved, lending a helping hand, guidance and wise words and never asked for anything in return. He was a man that made every occasion extra special, making it a point to visit a different part of the world each year creating many beautiful memories to treasure.
Besides his wife Vivian and parents Angelo and Giuseppina, Joe is survived by his children Pamela (Richard), Michael, Richard (Jessica) and Joey (Karen). Grandchildren Ashley, Andrew (Daniesha), Austin, Zayin, Atlas, Nicole and Samantha. Great Grandchildren Romeo, Jackson, Damian, Wolf and Baby. Brother Italo (Jeannie), sisters Joanne (Brian) Rankin, Gabriela (KJ) MacDonald. Sister in law Joannie (Ed) Poore and Brother in law George Leatham. God Parents Leandro and Adriana D’Addario and God daughters Pia Camilli and Angela Camilli. Aunts and Uncles who he treasured dearly in Sydney and Ontario as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and special friends throughout Nova Scotia, Ontario, United States, Italy and Scotland.
He was predeceased by his dear grandparents Giuseppe and Maria Grazia Camilli and Giovanni and Ida DiSano as well as his mother and father in law David and Georgina Leatham as well as his Great Aunt and Uncle in Sydney and special Aunts in Ontario and Italy.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday June 23, 2021 from 6-9 p.m at TW Curry Parkview Chapel. Due to Covid, a private Funeral Mass will be held at Holy Redeemer Church. The Funeral service will be live streamed and may be viewed on TW Curry’s Facebook page starting at 10:00am on Thursday, June 24. Interment will take place in Resurrection Cemetery.
