Age 64, New Campbellton, Cape Breton.
It is with profound sadness that the family of John Norman Patterson announces his death. John died at home on April 24, 2017.
Born in Sydney, he was a son of the late Norman and Beulah (Wells) Patterson. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Eileen (Buist); three children, Matthew (Christina), Canning, NS; Christine (Andre), Fall River, NS; and Kathleen (Allan), Fall River, NS; five grandchildren, Reid and Lawrence Patterson; John-Pierre and Roderick Lefebvre and Lauchlin MacDonald. He is also survived by his sister, Elizabeth Patterson; brother, Donald Patterson; and many nieces and nephews.
John had a long career as a provincial public servant in Halifax, retiring at the age of 52. After retirement he and Eileen moved home to Cape Breton where John did what he loved best, renovating. John was a quiet man but truly cherished time with his family, enjoying a glass of red wine on the deck of their “little piece of Heaven” in New Campbellton. John's family meant everything to him, and he to us, making his passing all the more difficult as we move forward without him. His love and kindness will never be forgotten, and his quick wit and smile will be forever etched in our memories.
Cremation has taken place. A Funeral Service will be held at 2 pm on Friday, April 28 at J. A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax. Burial will be in New Campbellton Cemetery at a later date.
