John Edward MacNeil, 89 of Christmas Island passed away on August 19, 2020 at Cape Breton Regional Hospital. Born in Christmas Island he was a son of the late John James and Mary Louise (MacDougall) MacNeil. In John’s younger years he worked as a labourer for the CNR. He then moved to Toronto where he worked at a service station that job lead him to his next job with Douglas Aircraft where he was perfectly suited for the job of checking the rivets on the wings of airplanes. John retired for Douglas Aircraft and eventually made his way back home to Christmas Island. He is survived by sisters, Margaret MacNeil, Digby and Teresa (Malcolm) Gillis, Boston; brothers, Hector James, Toronto, Melvin, Toronto and Mike (friend, Beatrice Poirer). Benacadie Glen. John was predeceased by his wife, Mary Jessie (Camus); brothers, John Dan and Alex Joseph; stepbrothers, Roderick and Martin.
