We the family of John R. MacNeil are saddened to announce that our husband, father, grandfather, uncle and brother passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by the love of his family on Friday, Sep. 22. He was 85 years of age.
Besides his parents, Roderick and Bertha MacNeil, John R. was predeceased by 7 of his siblings .
He has left behind his wife Isabel, daughters Christina "Sissy" and Anne, grandchildren Brian (Kerry), John Robert (Aidan) and Stewart as well as 5 great grandchildren, 1 brother Roddie (Anne) 1 sister Theresa (Blair) Smith and his fourlegged companion Bew.
John R. worked for over 30 years with the City of Montreal West. He was an avid gardener, winning many awards for his gardens and his flowers. Upon his retirement, he moved back to Cape Breton with his daughters and grandkids. He was a true gentleman in nature. Always looking out for others without asking or looking for something in return. He set a wonderful example for his children to follow. He also had a good sense of humour and his grandkids were his pride and joy.
A service for John R. will take place at a later date. Memories and condolences may be forwarded to the family by visiting www.twcurry.com. Inurnment will take place in St. Mary's Parish Cemetery, East Bay.
