John Seward MacLean passed away peacefully at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital with his wife Myrna by his side on December 29, 2016.
Born in Sydney November 29, 1938, he was the son of the late Neil and Lynne (Bonaparte) MacLean.
John worked many years in Ontario for International Harvester as a truck salesman. He was well known by his friends as a gourmet cook who could produce great dishes. He loved to entertain and shop for his wife, Myrna. He was forever ready with a new joke to entertain his friends and great devotion to Johnny Walker.
He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years Myrna (Moore) MacLean, his daughter Liza Marie Parry (Richard), Toronto and son Martyn Shawn MacLean, Toronto; brothers Charlie, Freddie, Alan; sisters Chris Joseph, Pat Wilson, Sarah Mombourquette and Jeannette Compton, all of Ontario; grandchildren Dianna, Ginny, Julia Parry and Brandon MacLean. He will be greatly missed by his four legged buddy, Charlie.
John was predeceased by in-laws Eliza (Sylliboy) and Noel Moore; son Ian David MacLean and his brother Neil.
Visitation will be held from 7-9 pm on Sunday, January 1 and funeral service at 11 am on Monday, January 2, both at T.W.Curry Parkview Chapel with Rev. Bill Burke officiating.
A funeral mass will take place on Thursday, January 5 at 10:30 am at St. Mary Queen of the Sea, 11 Peter St. S. Mississauga, ON, L5H 2G1 followed with the interment at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Port Credit, ON.
