With love, sadness and peace, we announce the passing of Jeanette (Theriault) O’Toole, 78 years, on Saturday February 20, 2021. Born in Sydney on May 26, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Sarah (Joshua) and Raymond Theriault. She was a dedicated teacher for over 30 years, enlisting her own children to help with classroom decorations and projects, spending most of her career as primary teacher and Principal at Eastmount School in Whitney Pier. Jeanette is survived by her devoted husband of 54 years, Russell, daughter Jill (home), son Sean (Blackett’s Lake), daughter Jennifer (Brad) and grandsons Spencer and Carter Richard (Wolfville) and sisters Paulette (Willie) Ball, Claire (Gerry) Campbell, Raylene Theriault, brother-in-law Carl Hartigan all of Sydney, and brother Paul (Nicole), PEI, sister-in-law Pat (Donnie) Munroe, Sydney, brother-in-law Donnie (Linda) O’Toole, Montreal and many nieces and nephews, she was pre-deceased by sister Emily Hartigan and sister-in-law Bernadette (Donnie) Almon, mother-in-law and father-in-law Florence and Russell Sr. O’Toole. She was a crafter, selling crocheted ornaments and tea towels with partner Arlene Harris in many craft shows in Sydney and Halifax. She was an avid traveller and camper. She especially enjoyed trips to the United States, where she also loved to shop. She loved holidays, decorating, and playing bingo. Donations in memory may be made to Hospice Palliative Care Society of Cape Breton County. Cremation has taken place. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and restrictions, we have chosen to have a private funeral.
