Gordon Slaney passed away peacefully at the age of 90 on December 19, 2015 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Gordon was born in Glace Bay, Cape Breton Island. He was adopted and raised by the late Mr. and Mrs. William MacIsaac from Antigonish, Nova Scotia.
Gordon enjoyed life to the fullest, tying flies and fishing, his proudest fishing moment was when he caught a 20 pound Salmon in the Sherbrooke River, Antionish Co. He also enjoyed bowling and modern square dancing. He worked as a stationary engineer for over 35 years with the Saint Francis Xavier University, Antigonish. Gordon served in the Canadian Military from 1945 - 1947
He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Noreen (MacDonald); brother, Ted; sister, Mary Turnbull; Rose; grandchildren, Andrew, Elizabeth and John Turton; many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, December 23 both at T. W. Curry Parkview Chapel, Rev. Joe Gillis will officiate. Interment in St. Angus Cemetery, New Waterford.
