Georgina Agatha Muise, “Georgie”, Sydney River, recently of Dartmouth, passed away on March 30, 2025, surrounded by the love and presence of her children, grandchildren, and other family members. With sorrow for our loss, but with much gratitude for a life well-lived and full of love, we are comforted that Georgie is now reunited with her beloved Vince, and other members of her immediate family.
Georgie was predeceased by her husband of 60+ years, Vincent Andrew ‘Vince’ Muise. She was also predeceased her parents, Joseph and Catherine (Brewer) Burke, and siblings: Kay (John) MacEachern, Vaughan (Graham) Bagnell, Regis (Tom) Cameron, Theresa (Tom) MacKinnon, Peggy Barry, Marie (Peter) Romeo, Joe (Vivian), Lloyd (Sharon) and Tom.
Georgie’s early days were spent in North Sydney with her many siblings. After completing high school, she worked for a number of years before her marriage to Vince. Shortly after they were married they moved to Fatima Drive in Sydney River where they raised their family of 5 boys. Georgie may have been outnumbered but there was never any doubt who was in charge!
Always active in their church and community, Vince and Georgie were united as a team. While Vince was active with sports or volunteering on committees, Georgie kept the home fires burning, taking care of Vince and their five sons, and even at times her mother or siblings as her help was needed. She had the backbone and the skill to keep things running smoothly while always ready to welcome family and friends to their home.
Georgie was full of moxie. Her can-do attitude characterized her life and carried her through difficult times and adversity. Determination, a strong work ethic, and a sense of humor were just some of the qualities that she embodied. She was a capable, practical woman and we are blessed to have her as an example to follow.
After major surgery in 2020, Georgie moved to Dartmouth to live with her oldest son, Cyril, and his family. We were blessed to watch her enjoyment of scratch tickets, Hallmark movies, and Mary Brown’s chicken! The last four years have had their challenges, but also many moments of fun and laughter spent with family members. She loved to see the arrival of each new great-grandchild, and especially enjoyed their visits whether in person or on video chats. Until very recently, Georgie kept tabs on many friends and family on her computer, really enjoying being in the know about events. She enjoyed keeping in touch with her faith community through Mass for Shut Ins or other live streams, and was also grateful for visits from our pastor, Father Toochukwu.
Georgie was blessed to have had wonderful connections with the many helpers from Homecare, enjoying new friendships, especially those with Rosemary and Sue. We are so grateful for the care and concern these ladies showed to Georgie, and the affection that they had for her. Special thanks are also due to Emmett, Cassie, Rebecca, Hugh, and Allison for their help in caring for Nan these past years.
We are especially grateful to Nora, whose unwavering love and dedication ensured that Georgie was always cared for day and night with endless patience - a true gift of love and devotion in her final years.
Left behind to love and miss her are her sons and their families: Cyril (Nora) - Emmett, Cassie (Blair), Rebecca (Kyle, Owen, Isla Georgina, Betty) and Hugh; Colin (Shauna) - Megan (Hayden, Jacob, Nora, Adam), Brianne (Chris); Lawrence (Elaine) - Erica (Ira, Levi, Stella), Joshua (Lisa, Phoebe), Victoria; Lloyd (Hazel) - Luke (Samantha, Noah) Joel (Rebecca, Darcy, Deacon); and Tom (Shelley) - Allison (Randy), Evan. She is also survived by her sister, Monica (Brian) Shebib and many loving and much-loved nieces and nephews and their families.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Fatima Church, Sydney River, on Friday, April 4th at 11:00 am, with Father Conrad Edwards officiating. A reception will follow in the parish hall. Interment to happen at a later date.
