92 – Sydney
George David Richey, 92, a resident of the Cove Guest Home and formerly of Gray Street, passed away Tuesday, October 26, 2010 at the residence surrounded by his family.
Born in Sydney, he was the son of the late Aubrey and Margaret (Walker) Richey.
He was a member of St. Theresa Parish and the Sydney Steelworkers Pensioner Club. George was employed for 40 years as a crane operator in the Foundry, Sydney Steel Corp., retiring in 1982.
He is survived by daughter Beverly (Gordie) MacDougall, Marion Bridge; son Eddie (Sherry), Sydney; sister Emma, Windsor, ON; grandson Michael Richey, Halifax; granddaughter Kimberly MacDougall, Edmonton; great granddaughter Shayla, Edmonton and by several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife, the former Sally Higgins, 5 brothers James, Neil, Howard, John and Aubrey and 2 sisters Mary and Florence.
Visitation for Mr. Richey will take place on Thursday from 7-9 p.m. at T.W.Curry Parkview Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 10 am on Friday at T.W.Curry Parkview Chapel with Rev. Jim Oliver officiating. Interment in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks.
