It is with heavy hearts we announce the peaceful passing of Marguerite Ryan at Habourstone Enhanced Care on December 9th, 2020. Born in Sydney in 1936, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Sadie Mae MacNeil. She was employed in the credit office of Zellers until she retired.
Marguerite grew up in the North end and lived in Sydney and Westmount but the place she was happiest was Shenacadie. There her and dad worked side by side to create their own little piece of paradise. She loved to garden, paint and anything else it took to make everything look pretty. She enjoy the peacefulness of nature and the beautiful view of the Bras d'or lakes. There wasn't a bird or animal she didn't like or want to feed. Nana dearly loved to spoil and spend time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She had a mischevious streak and enjoyed teasing and playing games with them.
Marguerite is survived by her children Marlene (Brian) Morrison, Donnie Ryan, Wendy Gushue (Ryan), her sister Marie MacKinnon, grandchildren Ryan Morrison (Julie), Jordon (Jen) Morrison, Annelise Morrison (Gordie), Jenna and Kelsie Ryan. great grandchildren Easton and Emmalyn Morrison, sisters-in-law Mary Ryan, Gertie (Jim) Long, Betty MacDonald, brother-in-law Ted Snow and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 62 years Joe Ryan, her sister Reynelda, brothers Donnie, Hector, Clinton and two siblings in infancy Joseph and Annie MacNeil. She was also predeceased by her in laws Stephen MacKinnon, Mary MacNeil, Mildred MacNeil, Ray Ryan, Carol and Jack Scott, Kay and Pat Horgan, Rhoda Snow, Margo Russell and Greg MacDonald.
Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation. A family graveside service will take place at a later date. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family by visiting www.twcurry.com.
We would like to thank the staff at Harbourstone's, Soldier's Cove for their care and compassion. Mom was only there a few months but you were able to make her laugh and smile. Your kindness meant so much.
The Death of a mother is the first sorrow wept without her.
