Eugene grew up on his family’s farm on Meadows Road in Sydney Forks. As a teenager he worked for Fr. Donnie MacDonald before beginning his 40-year career in small engine repair. Most recently, he was employed by Keltic Kubota and Andrew MacDonald Landscaping. He was the gentle giant, honest, hardworking and committed family man, who will be deeply missed.
Born on May 10th 1963, he is survived by his children Bradley (Lindsay McLean) and Tessa; his sister and brother Roseanne MacLean and Bernard Gillis; his brothers- in- law and sisters- in- law Colette Schaller- Beaton (Ken), George Schaller, Albert Schaller (Debbie), Gordie Schaller (Nancy), Elizabeth Schaller, and his many nieces and nephews including his godchildren Ryan Schaller (Meg), Christian MacLean, and Ethan Schaller.
Eugene was predeceased by his wife, Ellen (Schaller) Gillis, his father- in- law George Schaller and mother- in- law Thelma Schaller.
Visitation will take place on Tuesday, July 12th from 4-8 pm at T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel. Funeral Mass will be on Wednesday July 13th at 10 am at St. Mary’s Church, East Bay with Fr. Anthony O’Connor officiating. Interment in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks.
