Eric Wilson Joseph McCarthy

Younger son of Don and Jane McCarthy, of Sydney, passed away recently at his home, at the age of 73. After graduating from Sydney Academy, he worked at St. Rita Hospital in the receiving and distribution department. Most of his working years were spent in sales. During his time in Halifax, Eric worked for Northeast Equipment Ltd. He later returned to Sydney to assist his aging parents and a favorite aunt, Margaret Mulligan. He worked for a while at Saf-Way Auto Parts, and later, he drove for Preferred Taxi, formerly Dynasty, where he enjoyed the friendship of his co-workers and many clients until his retirement. Eric had an outgoing personality, kept abreast of current events and loved to engage in conversation around a variety of topics. He is survived by his brother, John McCarthy of Dartmouth, sister-in-law Janet; nieces Adrienne and Elizabeth with whom he had a very special bond; and grandnephew Dalton. A graveside service at Resurrection Cemetery in Sydney Forks will be announced at a later date. Donations in Eric's memory can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, or a charity of your choice.
