It is with deep sadness that the family of Duncan Roy announce his passing on Sat July 4. He was the beloved son of Ann MacDonald MacMillan and the late Roy MacMillan. Duncan was born in 1958 in Sydney, and lived a life full of adventure. He spent his formative years in New York City and San Francisco with his mother and his summers in Sydney and Malagawatch with his father Roy and Aunt Law. Duncan finished his high school years in Cape Breton and although he travelled far and wide throughout his 6 decades, he adored this island and was a very proud Cape Bretoner. Duncan was a unique man who lived an interesting life. He was a fishing guide and logger on Vancouver Island, a railroad and construction worker in Alberta, a sea urchin diver in Port Bickerton. He returned to school in his 40’s and obtained a diploma in electrical engineering from NSCC. Duncan loved music and worked tirelessly to learn guitar and would love to demonstrate his latest original tune. A great cook and a great eater! He loved his friends dearly and shared his fabulous smile, his zest for life and his pure, genuine nature wherever he went. He will be missed and never forgotten. Love and many thanks go out to his dear cousins, his special friend Tish McCormick and life-long friends Janet Bickerton and Lorne Kyte. Visitation will take place on Thursday July 9, from 10a.m. - 12p.m. at T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel, 755 George St, Sydney, NS. Please phone 902-539-4001 to schedule your time to attend the visitation.
