It is with great sadness that we the family, of Dorothy Francis, announce her passing on October 6th, 2022, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, surrounded by the love of her family and friends. Dorothy was born August 4th, 1971 to Johnny and the late Nancy Paul.
Dorothy lived each day to the fullest and embraced all life had to offer. Dorothy had an outgoing personality that made people gravitate toward her. She was truly selfless, and freely gave of herself to anyone who needed someone to confide in or was seeking advice. Dorothy held a Bachelor of Arts Community Studies from UCCB and Bachelor of Social Work from Dalhousie and throughout her career as a social worker for Mi’kmaw Family & Children’s Services she was able to touch many lives in a very positive way. She served her community right up until the time of her unfortunate passing.
Anyone who knew Dorothy, knows about her love for Christmas time. She would decorate just about every room in her house with Christmas decorations and multiple Christmas trees. Dorothy loved to travel and this would take her annually to Disney for vacations. She was an avid baseball fan and also her beloved Montreal Canadiens. During the summer, she loved to camp and play washer toss with her family and friends. As much as Dorothy loved travelling and the Habs, nothing compared to the deep love she had for her children. Dorothy showered love and affection on her children and her husband Gabe.
She will be dearly missed by all those who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Dorothy is survived by her loving husband of 30 years Gabriel, father Johnny Paul, children; Blaise (Amber), Caitlin, Todd (Shaelyn), Bailey (Natalie), Wade (Shelby) and Geraldine. Dorothy also leaves to mourn her siblings; Angela, Juanita Leroux (Aaron), Rachel Coles (Neil), parents in law Gerald and Mabel Francis, brothers in law; Gerald Jr., George, Theodore, Roderick, Simon, and Howard, sisters in law; Ann, Carol Ann, Amanda and Ariel, godmother Joan Denny, godchildren Lily and Leurette, special cousin Diana Christmas; honorary sister Marsha Sabattis; close family friend, Frances Coles, and many close friends.
