He was the son of Hugh A. and Annie (MacInnis) MacLean. Born Jan 8, 1938 in his beloved River Denys Station, Inverness County, a place of great joy and friendship for him and his faithful canine companion Priscilla. He enjoyed the best fishing and hunting at the A-Frame in Inverness County. He was a dedicated Boston Bruins and Toronto Blue Jays fan.
In his early years he was employed with S & L Railroad alongside his father Hughie Angus. He also worked as a mechanic in Halifax and later moved back to work at the Steel City Tavern. During that time, he developed many friendships with the regulars!
Donnie is survived by his nine siblings, sisters; Marie (Lorne) MacIntyre (Theberge), Tena Ehler, Whycocomagh, Irene Ellard, Georgetown Ont., Anna Byers, Dartmouth, Shirley (Reg) Landry, St. Peters, and Patricia (Jeckie) Gouthro, Coxheath, brothers; Hughie (Liz), Sydney, George (Irene), Sydney, and Eugene (Joyce), Westmount. Donnie is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Donnie is predeceased by his parents Hugh A. and Annie (MacInnis) MacLean, sister in infancy Mary Irene, niece in infancy Stephanie Anne, as well as brothers in law Maurice, Tommy, Lorne, and Denton and sister in law Heather MacLean.

Visitation for Donnie will begin on Friday, August 25th from 4-7pm at TW Curry Parkview Chapel in Sydney. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, August 26th at 10am at St. Theresa’s Church followed by a reception at the parish hall. For those unable to attend, the Funeral Mass will be livestreamed via TW Curry's facebook page. Burial will take place in St. Dionysius Cemetery in River Denys.
