It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Dolores Moore at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital on January 14, 2024 surrounded by her family. Dolores was born on October 31, 1929 in Sydney at her parents’ home on East St. She was the youngest child of the late Philip Rossetti of Roseto Valfortore, Foggia, Italy and Nicolena Rossi of Caserta, Campania, Italy and was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Dolores was a life long resident of Sydney. In her youth she attended Holy Redeemer High School and then completed a business course at Empire Business School which enabled her to work as a secretary for several firms in Sydney including the law office of Moe Rosenblum, Dr. Jardine’s dentist office, J.W. Stephens Bldg. Co and lastly C.F.B. Sydney Elementary School (Radar Base) where she retired from in 1985. Dolores enjoyed the company of her family and friends as well as skating at the local rinks, ceramics, traveling and the company of her pet dogs and cats over the years. Most of all she enjoyed preparing meals based on her Italian heritage and using the recipes passed on by her mother which she shared with her family and friends. Dolores was a member of the Italian Cultural Club for several years.
She was predeceased by her husband, Kevin C. Moore in 1973, her only child, Heather Joy Stallard of Cole Harbour, N.S. in 2019, as well as her sisters, Mary Bogert of Park Ridge, N.J., Rose Rank of Aurora, Ont., Michelena “Collie” Johnson of Aurora, Ont., and brothers in Sydney, Frank, Alphonse “Bonnie” and Anthony “Bruce” Rossetti as well as two brothers in infancy, Albert and Francisco and her close friend, Ron Pearson.
She will be sadly missed by her son-in-law, Ron Stallard of Cole Harbour, N.S., special grand niece, Joanne Walker and her partner, Charles Yorke, her great grand niece, Rhysa Marinelli, family friend, Robert Schella as well as many nieces and nephews.
Special thanks to Nicki and Bob Walker and Flora Marchand for their care and support. Also thanks to the staff of Parkland Sydney and Harbourstone Nursing Home for the excellent care given to Dolores in her later years. In keeping with Dolores’ wishes cremation has taken place.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to T. W. Curry Funeral Home in Sydney. The funeral will take place at the T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel on George St., Sydney on January 27th at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Evo DiPierro officiating. Burial will take place in Resurrection Cemetery at a later date.No flowers or visitation by request. Donations in her memory will be very much appreciated by the Cape Breton S.P.C.A. in Sydney, the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Hope for Wildlife Cape Breton (new) or to a charity of your choice.
