We regret to announce the passing of Colin Francis Gillis, affectionately known as “The Fox”. He passed away peacefully on Sept. 1, 2014.

Born in Grand Mira, Cape Breton, Colin was the son of the late Joseph and Margaret (Gillis) Gillis.

He is survived by his loving wife, Margaret Frances (Donovan); sons, Joseph (Debbie), Sydney, Kyte, B.C., Finlay (Elma), Nunavut, Alvin (Desiree), B.C., Lauchie, B.C., Shaun (Alice) Nfld., Sheldon, Ottawa and daughter, Colleen (Brad), B.C.; 10 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and a sister, Stella.

He was predeceased by siblings, Lauchie, Duncan, John Allan, Alberta, Margaret, Sara and Helen.

He was a kind and hardworking man, loved by family and friends alike. He will be greatly missed. At the request of Colin, there will be no visitation. Funeral mass will be held at Saint Margaret’s Church, Grand Mira at 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 5, 2014; Fr. Norman MacPhee officiating.
