Wagmatcook
Christine Matilda Pierro passed away peacefully in Sydney on January 16th, 2017 with her family at her bedside. Christine was born March 14th 1951 to the late Victor and Louise Pierro of Wagmatcook.
Christine grew up in Wagmatcook and spent her adult years living in Toronto and Halifax before retiring home in Wagmatcook. Family and friends were Christine's passion and delight. She was an active volunteer in her community and was a strong activist and supporter of the Indian Residential School healing. Christine was proud of her aboriginal roots and she cherished and embraced her culture and traditions.
Christine leaves behind her children, Francine McDonald (Preston) of Indian Brook, Michael of Maine, Matilda Koopmann (Frank) of Elmsdale, Byron Googoo (Joanna) of Whycocomagh. Her beloved grandchildren, Benjamin, Shade, Kimberly, Bonnie, Titus, Byron, Kia, Logan, Ocean and Mason. Her siblings, Alena Usher of Sydney, Yvonne Pierro (Peter) of Wagmatcook, Charles Pierro (Mary) of Wagmatcook, Francis-Chisholm Pierro of Wagmatcook, her special niece Kim and many other nieces and nephews.
Christine was predeceased by her sisters, Rubena Gould, Theresa Pierro, Bernadette Pierro, her brothers, Peter Tony Pierro and Michael Pierro and grandson Shade Googoo.
Christine's distinctive laugh will ring throughout the heavens and her direct and inquisitive spirit will, no doubt, keep Saint Peter on his toes. May she Rest In Peace and Rise in Glory.
Visitation for Christine Pierro will begin on Thursday, January 19 after 7 pm at the Elder Center in Wagmatcook. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, January 21 at 2 pm at Queen of the World Church, Wagmatcook, with Fr. Paul Abbass officiating. Inurnment at a later date.
