Our family is deeply saddened to announce that Cecil "Bryan" Pyke passed away. On Friday, March 28, 2025 at the age of 73, Bryan passed peacefully and is survived by his loving wife Theresa Maureen Pyke (MacNeil).
Bryan grew up in Sydney Mines and graduated from The Vocational School Drafting Program. He moved and worked in Sydney for a few years at Sydney Steel. Due to pending layoffs, he and Theresa moved to Alberta where he worked in the oil industry as a graphic designer for 30 years. They had many adventures and travels through the years with lifetime friends, but his favourite times were at "the cabin" . Whether it was bbq's, board and card games, fishing, hunting or having lively debates with his friends on world issues, it was always done with fun in mind. At retirement, they moved back to Cape Breton to be closer to family. He met new friends who enjoyed fishing just as much as he did. Many hours and trips spent on the shore or the ice, even if there were no fish. Bryan had a great sense of humour and loved to laugh and make others laugh along with his witty comebacks. He was a very kind and thoughtful man that was a pleasure to be around. His passing has left a void in the hearts of his family and friends.
Survived by siblings and their families - Blair and Noelle (Tiffany), Joe and Sandra (Kevin and Lynn), Heather (son Breton). Sisters-in-law and family - AnnMarie (children Charlie and Annemarie), Margie (children Debbie and Scott), brother-in-law and family - John and Hamerika (Dustin, Hayden, Drew and Chloe) as well as numerous great nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents Cecil Charles and Gertrude Pyke (Fennell) as well as his brother-in-law Pius Day.
At his request there will be no service. Cremation has taken place. Donations in his memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Society of Canada or Parkinsons Canada.
