With profound sadness, we announce the death of our mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Carol died on Sunday, January 31, surrounded by her loving family and the compassionate caregivers at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital’s Palliative Care Unit.
Born in Sydney, October 10, 1945, Carol was the daughter of the late Michael (Mick) and Cecilia Moore. She was truly committed to family. As a devoted daughter she honed her leadership and benevolence in preparation for her own matriarchy. Her love for her husband, Lincoln, was immense. After 53 years married, she lost him in September 2019. Together they provided a loving home for their four children before extending it to their nine grandchildren. She and Link spent their summers in Ben Eoin where they thrived on sharing time with family and friends. She worked at Sobeys for many years where she developed many lifelong relationships with colleagues and customers alike. Carol was committed to her faith and church. She enjoyed time with the CWL and serving as a Eucharistic minister. Since beating cancer in 2010, she volunteered for the patient care fund.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her siblings Kenny, Trish Balmas, Gregory and Michelle, brothers-in-law Terry McCarron, Donnie MacPhee, Angus MacDonald and sister-in-law Kay Dickson.
Carol is survived by her children: Darlene (Gary Jennings), Greg (Roseann Currie), Trevor and Scott; nine treasured grandchildren, Max, Maggie, Michael and Mark Jennings, Owen and Emma MacPhee, Anna and Caroline MacPhee, and Mya MacPhee. She is also survived by her siblings, Clara McCarron, Terry (Mary) Moore, Colleen (Mike) MacPherson, Brian (Catherine) Moore, Keith Moore and in-laws Ann MacDonald, Hughena MacIntyre, Wilma (Tom) Pyke, Raymond (Janet) MacPhee, Paul Dickson, Linda MacPhee, Diane Moore and Frank Balmas. She will be greatly missed by her extended family including many nieces and nephews from both the MacPhee and Moore families.
With the unwavering support of a dedicated team of family and friends, and the enormous commitment of her gracious host, Carol held visitation for the past five months where she treated all to her wisdom, humor and generous spirit. To respect health authority guidelines, a private funeral mass with Father Paul Murphy will be celebrated.
