It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother on September 23, 2024 at Harbourstone Enhanced Care home. Betty was the eldest daughter of the late Fred and Evelyn Boudreau. She was born in Poulamon, Richmond County, on October 5, 1931. At the young age of 10 she moved with her family to the north end in Sydney. Mom could only speak French but she quickly caught on to the English language.
In 1956, mom was married to our kind and loving dad Mick for 47 years before he passed away in 2003. They lived in Whitney Pier, and mom continued to live there after dad passed away.
She was a devoted, beautiful mother to all her children and will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed.
Mom was physically active with walking, skating, exercise class and swimming right up until her eighties. She enjoyed spending time with her sisters on the Sydney Boardwalk and going for lunch.
Betty is survived by her children Mike (Barb) Sydney, Karen (Kenny) Halifax, Gerard, Edmonton, Elizabeth (Rob) Halifax, sisters; Phyllis Lind, Sylvia Leyte (Lloyd), brother Fred (Ann), sister-in-law Carlie Kennedy; 6 beloved grandchildren Lisa (Luke), Jenna (Matt), Deanna (Mike), Nicole (Justin), Cayley and Hannah; 6 great grandchildren, Sofie, Jax, Madelyn, Anna, Eva, and Kylee.
Mom was predeceased by her loving husband, Michael Kennedy, brother-in-laws Bernie Lind and Bobby Leyte, Ray (Marie) Kennedy and Carlin Kennedy;as well as sister-in-law Tilly (Leo) Jessome.
Special thank you to the staff at New Waterford Heights Nursing Home and Harbourstone Enhanced Care Home for the excellent care and kindness that they have showed to mom.
Visitation will be held at TW Curry Parkview Chapel, 755 George St. on Monday, September 30, 2024 from 7:00pm – 9:00 pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Redeemer Parish in Whitney Pier on Tuesday, October 1, 2024 at 10:30am with Fr. Paul Murphy officiating. Burial to follow.
