It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Ada Marie Keating (McGee) at age 90 on February 5, 2022 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Palliative Care Unit, with her loving niece Stellamarie at her side.
Ada was born in Sydney Mines (Atlantic Street) July 13, 1931, daughter of the late Stephen and Stella (Diggins). She was predeceased by loving husband Charles Bernard and only daughter Lisa Marie. She was also predeceased by brothers Anthony, Stephen, Gerald and her loving sisters Ellen & Stella.
She is survived by her stepchildren Sheila Veniot (Stewart), Rosalie Walsh (Peter), John (Brenda) , Ike (Grace), Michael (Mary) and numerous step-grandchildren & great grandchildren. Also leaving behind many nieces & nephews with special mention to Mariam, Stellamarie and Damien.
Upon graduation, Ada began a career in banking which took her to Halifax but eventually back to Cape Breton where she met her husband Bernie. They spent several years in Charlottetown P.E.I. where they developed a close circle of friends.
In her retirement, they spent winters in Clearwater Beach, Florida, making many new friends who she continued to keep in contact with in her later years.
Ada also enjoyed music, dancing, long debates, visits to the Casino and her beloved Blue Jays.

Cremation has taken place and a Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Sept 9th at 11am, at Our Lady of Fatima Church in Sydney River. Interment to follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks. Donations may be made to Northside Community Guest Home in Ada’s memory.
