It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that we announce the passing of our dad William "Billy" Joseph Arsenault, on June 18, 2024 in his home, at 75 years of age, following a courageous battle with cancer, with his daughters by his side.
Dad was born in Alder Point on March 27, 1948 to the late John Joe and Mary Arsenault. He was born into a family with five sisters Betty, Lois, Jane, Florence and Trish and one brother Peter. His family has grown to include his 4 daughters Stephanie, Nicole, Leahann and Susan, 16 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and many nieces , nephews and cousins who all held a special place in his heart.
Dad spent most of his life growing up and living in Alder Point. He was a fisherman all of his life, sailing most of the waters around Cape Breton and had many stories to tell. He also made many friends along the way.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife Dorothy, daughter Tracy, granddaughter Talia Forrest, grandson Justice Nobel and sister Lois Leblanc.
A visitation will be held at Fillmore and Whitman Funeral Home, 8 Clyde Ave., Sydney Mines on Tuesday, June 25 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. A funeral service will take place on Wednesday, June 26 at 2pm at Carman United Church, Sydney Mines with Rev. Nick Phillips officiating. Stories and condolences can be shared with the family by visiting www.fillmoreandwhitman.com.
If desired, donations in dad's memory may be made to a charity of your choice or to Cape Breton Hospice/Palliative Care.
The family would like to thank Dr. A. Wawer and his amazing staff, Julia Penny, Palliative Care, VON Karen Leblanc and Sue Bennett for all of your care and compassion that you showed to our dad.
In the celestial lakes where angels softly tread, my dad finds solace, casting lines overhead. With each catch a memory of our time together. Fishing in heaven, his love lasts forever.
