It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Shirley Elizabeth Johnston on November 13, 2021, at the Northside General Hospital. Born in North Sydney on July 15, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Elizabeth (Stewart) Johnston.
Shirley was a kind hearted soul who enjoyed the simple things in life, chatting on the phone with family, fish supper on Fridays, listening to music and visits with her sister, cousins and many nieces and nephews. She held dear to her heart many photos of her family.
She is survived by her sister Theresa (Truman Reiley), Point Aconi, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides her parents, Shirley was predeceased by her brother Joey Johnston, and sisters Joan Penticost, Mabel Johnston and Ann Rumbolt.
Special thanks to the staff of Miners Memorial Manor and the staff of 2 West Northside General for their care and compassion.
