It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Mary Elizabeth Nugent on August 11, 2011.

Born in Bras d’Or she was a daughter of the late George and Annie (Young) Jones. Mary was a member of St. Stephens Parish, Florence. She was a devoted wife and loving mother of 5 children. One of her favorite past times was playing cards with family and friends. She spent the last few years residing at the Northside Community Guest Home where she enjoyed various activities and time with friends.

She is survived by her 5 children, Valerie (Patrick), Edmonton, Tommy , Florence, Debbie (Henry Young), Florence; Thelma (Mike), Sydney Mines; Shane (Sherry), Florence; 11 grandchildren, Mary, Diana, Tommy, Michelle, Colin, Candace, Ashley, Tyler, Shelby, Shane and Shayna; great grandchildren, Taran, Ashton, Timothy, Noah, Adalaina and Oliver; sisters, Lorraine and Thelma, both of Ontario; brothers, David and Joe, both of Bras d’Or.

She was predeceased by her husband Thomas Nugent; sister, Rachel; brothers, Garfield, Wilfred and Art.

We would like to thank the staff at the Northside Community Guest Home for all their kindness and compassion in caring for our Mother as well as Dr. Wawer and the staff at the Northside General Hospital.

As she requested there will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place. Funeral Mass will be held 10 a.m. on Monday, August 15 in St. Stephens Parish, Florence.

In lieu of flowers donations in memory may be made to a charity of choice.
