Born in Neil’s Harbour, Mary lived in Ingonish Beach, with her husband James Brewer before he passed in 1960. In Dec 1942, he shipped off to war leaving her expecting their first child not knowing if he would return. Life wasn't always easy.

She was a member of St Peters Catholic Church in Ingonish. Through many ups and downs she fought her way through trouble and strife with unshakable faith in God; always with prayer beads in her hands. Mom loved to give to others, making uncountable pairs of slippers, dish cloths & bread, all made with great love to be given to others who helped her in some way. She was loved by everyone.
There are no words to thank the staff members at Highland Manor Nursing Home. They are angels in disguise.
A funeral mass will take place Saturday October 3 2020 at 11 am with Fr. Alphonsus Iwuji presiding at St. Peters Catholic Church. Cremation is in the care of Fillmore & Whitman Funeral Home, Sydney Mines. Memories and condolences may be forwarded to the family by visiting www.fillmoreandwhitman.com. We, the family of Mary Brewer, would like to take this opportunity to thank each & everyone from the very bottom of our hearts for attending mom’s funeral service, for donations, mass & sympathy cards. To Fr. Alphonus, our deepest gratitude for a mass filled with great love, music & prayer; exactly what mom wished for. A very special thank you to Amanda, Daniel, Andrew & Dawn. Their skills & kindness, allowed family members, who cannot be here, in person, to virtually attend the service. To the CWL ladies, Coastal Waters owners Jason & Keith, Brother Milne from Freshmart & countless others our heartfelt thanks for the love you have shown to mom. There are no words to express our gratitude & appreciation. God bless you all!
