It is with heavy hearts that we the family, announce the passing of Florence Johnston, on October 31, 2015 at the Miner’s Memorial Manor, Sydney Mines.

Born in Sydney Mines she was the daughter of the late John and Nelda MacKinnon. Florence was a member of the Sydney Mines Legion and the Sydney Mines Senior’s and Pensioner’s Club. Florence was employed as a custodian at Memorial High School for several years.

Florence is survived by daughter: Marie (Robert MacQueen), Sydney Mines; sons: Ian (Sherri), Springhill, Michael (Paula), North Sydney, Lloyd (Joanne), Sydney Mines, Leroy (Terasa) Brampton, ON; brothers: Andrew MacKinnon and Francis MacKinnon , 17 grandchildren: Kevin, Robin, Brian, Jason, Natasha, Caitlin, Matthew, Joshua, Lloyd, Chad, Joanna, David, Brittany, Trista, Chance, Madisen, Farron as well as many great-grandchildren.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Leory, son Roy Johnston, daughter in infancy Arthena, grandson Troy Johnston, Kevin (in infancy), brother, Archie MacKinnon, sister, Jimima Campbell, Madonna Coleski, Jean Cantwell, Margaret O’Neil, Johnena Moore and Ann Rita Morrison.

There will be no visitation, cremation has taken place. Funeral Service will be at 10am on Thursday November 5, 2015 at Holy Family Parish with Fr. J.J. MacDonald officiating.
