Charles Seymour, age 80 of North Sydney died peacefully in the An Cala Palliative Care Unit of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital on Wednesday, November 9, 2016. He was born on July 22, 1936 in Spainard’s Bay, Nfld to Azariah and Jean (Drodge) Seymour. Charlie worked as town carpenter, public works for the Town of North Sydney until his retirement in 1995. Prior to this, he worked for Chappell’s Building Supplies in Sydney with his brother Bill.
Charlie had a great love for music, spending many hours entertaining friends, family and seniors, both alone and as part of groups of friends. He was a proud and devoted grandfather, sharing many activities with his two grandsons. A talented craftsman, he impressed many people with his handcrafted wood items. Every summer, he would be found at Driftwood Campground with his wife Frances. Charlie was a dedicated member and volunteer of St Giles Presbyterian Church in North Sydney as well as a longtime volunteer at the North Sydney Food Bank.
Charlie is survived and will be deeply missed by his wife Frances (Turner) Seymour, his daughter Charlene (Paul) Perry of Sydney, his beloved grandsons Michael and Mark Perry, his dear brothers Bill (Viola) of Sydney and Andrew (Raylene) of Winnipeg as well as many nieces, nephews other relatives and his many friends from work and volunteering.
In addition to his parents, Charlie is predeceased by his brother Alvin, sister Jemimah, nephew Kevin and mother and father-in-law David and Frances Turner.
There will be no wake. A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm on Sunday, November 13, 2016 at St. Giles Presbyterian Church, Campbell St., North Sydney with Rev. Ritchie Robinson officiating.
