Rosemary Berard

She was the widow of the late Robert O. Berard to whom she had been married for 63 years. She was preceded in death by her son Robert “Peter” Berard, as well as all four of her siblings, Katherine Tracey, Stephen Donnelly Jr., Roger Donnelly, and Robert Donnelly.

Mrs. Berard graduated from the former Katherine Gibbs Secretarial School and pursued careers in the medical field, first as a surgical assistant, then as an accounts manager at Country Gardens Nursing Home in Swansea until her retirement. She enjoyed vacationing with her husband and going out to lunch with family and friends. Anyone lucky enough to meet her knows how special Mrs. Berard was. With a warm smile, wonderful sense of humor, and remarkable memory, she was easy to love and always had time for a long chat. Her family will always cherish memories of her infectious giggle, birthday phone calls, and great big hugs. And of course, her legendary brownie recipe, which was a fixture at every party.

She is survived by her daughter, Robin Griffin and her husband William of Plymouth; her son, Richard O. Berard and his wife Dianne of Swansea; her grandchildren, Patrick Griffin, Molly Harris, Dr. Geoffrey Berard, and Amanda Lawlor; and her great-grandchildren, Liam Griffin, Avery Griffin, Peter Berard, Vivienne Berard, Malcolm Berard, Luke Harris, Ronan Harris, and Boden Lawlor.

Her Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, December 28, 2023 at 11:00AM in St. Dominic's Church, 1277 G.A.R. Highway, Swansea. Relatives and friends are invited. Visitation will be held prior to her Mass from 8:30 to 10:30 AM in the Waring-Sullivan Home at Birchcrest, 189 Gardners Neck Road Swansea Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Swansea.
