Peter G. McMurray, age 94, passed away peacefully Tuesday, October 25, 2022 in Catholic Memorial Home. He was the husband of the late Lorraine A. (Beaulieu) McMurray, to whom he was married to for 66 years prior to her passing in 2020.
Born in Fall River a son of the late Peter T. and Bertha (Bergeron) McMurray he was a longtime resident of Swansea.
A graduate of BMC Durfee High School, Class of 1946 he was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps serving during World War II. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business from Bryant University. An Accountant and Field Officer, he worked for the Federal Government for over 30 years before retiring in 1983.
A communicant of the former Our Lady of Fatima in Swansea he was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the American Legion. Skilled at tending to his garden and carpentry, he enjoyed taking long walks and spending time with his wife and family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is survived by two daughters, Paula McMurray-Robidoux of South Dennis and Nancy McMurray of Lincoln, NH; three grandchildren, Jessica Zelch and her husband Brad, Megan Ashton and Justin Robidoux and his wife Alisha; five great-grandchildren, Addison, Peyton, Julia, Gabriella and Lucas Scott; sister-in-law Deborah McMurray and longtime friend of the family, Janice Walsh. He was the father of the late Peter Scott McMurray, brother of the late Richard McMurray, Raymond McMurray, Sister Pauline McMurray, Daniel McMurray and Francis McMurray, father-in-law of the late Peter Robidoux and brother-in-law of the late Doris Rapoza.
Private arrangements are in the care of the Waring-Sullivan Home at Birchcrest, Swansea.
