Michael Tavares

Michael was born May 6, 1964 in Fall River but grew up in Swansea where he is very well known and loved. He was the son of Richard and the late Anne Marie (St. Pierre) Tavares. He graduated from Joseph Case High School and went on to have many different jobs including the family painting business Lavoie

and Tavares. Michael enjoyed working and always kept himself busy. Michael also liked to fish, go for bike rides, cook, play pool and do yard work in his free time. Most of all, he loved spending time with his daughter. Michael was known for being very generous and would not hesitate to give someone

everything he had, friend or stranger. He loved his family more than anything.

In addition to his father, Michael is survived by his daughter, Alexis Tavares of Fall River; two brothers, Richard Tavares Jr. and his wife Christy of Fall River and Kevin Tavares of Swansea; a sister, Melanie Arruda of Swansea; Alexis’ mother, Charlene Ireland of Fall River and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Jamie Tavares.

His Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at 6:00 PM in the Waring-Sullivan Home at Birchcrest, 189 Gardners Neck Rd. Swansea. Visitation prior from 4:00 to 6:00 PM.Burial Private.
