Lucille Marie Elise Pavao (Saucier), 85, passed away on March 8, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones. Born in the district of Three Rivers, Quebec, Canada to Joseph Saucier and Diana (St. Pierre), Lucille spent her youth alongside her three siblings, Leo, George, and Therese. Though Lucille spoke mostly in English, she loved to sing French lullabies, something that those close to her remember fondly. When Lucille was two years old, she migrated to the United States with her family.
It is in Fall River, Massachusetts where Lucille graduated from Dominican Academy in 1957. When she was 19, she married her soulmate, Joseph Pavao, Jr. and spent nearly 43 years as his beloved bride before his passing. Together, they grew their family to include 5 children. Lucille and her family moved around quite a bit through the years, but always came back to Massachusetts as home. Throughout her life, Lucille spent time volunteering with her church and working at St. Anne’s Credit Union, but her true passion was being a dedicated, loving mother to her children.
Lucille leaves behind her daughter Lynn Whipple, son Gary Pavao and his wife Kelly, daughters Robin Laquerre, Tracie MacDonald and her husband Glen, and Jodi Pavao-Simmons. Lucille was an adored Memere to her 9 grandchildren, Malerie Rosa (Chris), Bryan Laquerre (Jessie), Amanda Whipple, Victoria Pavao, Sarah Ryan (Adam), Zachary Pavao, Aidan MacDonald, Logan MacDonald, Rylie MacDonald, and Christian Simmons, as well as to her 13 great-grandchildren. Lucille will also be dearly missed by all of her cousins, nieces, nephews, caretakers, and friends, whom she loved like family. To have met Lucille is to have loved her. Lucille’s wit, intelligence, and caring personality captured the hearts of everyone she met.
Lucille is predeceased by her husband, her siblings, her son-in-law Warren Laquerre, and her parents.
Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at 10am from the Waring-Sullivan Home at Birchcrest, 189 Gardners Neck Rd., Swansea, followed by her Mass of Christian Burial at 11am in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 530 Gardners Neck Rd., Swansea. Interment will take place at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne so she may be laid to rest beside her husband. Visiting hours will be Tuesday from 4-7pm.
