Born in Providence, RI, he was the son of the late Clarence and Josephine (Rogers) Dodge.
Mr. Dodge was a graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School, Providence and went on to become a Lab Tech for Texas Instruments, Attleboro. He was employed for 43 years before his retirement in 2009.
Joseph was very active in his parish; St. Dominic’s Church where he was a religious education teacher and a Eucharistic Minister. He was a Cub Scout Pack Leader for St. Pius Church, Providence and was a member of the American Legion, Post #303, the Knights of Columbus, Council #3669 where he was a past Grand Knight and he was an elected official for the Swansea Recreation Commission. Joseph was a coach, manager and director for Swansea Little League, Minor League Division.
Mr. Dodge enjoyed singing country music and loved country line dancing.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his children, Jean Alves and her husband Keith of Uxbridge, Joseph T. Dodge and his fiancée Laurie of Swansea, Jeffrey W. Dodge of Swansea and Julie Dodge and her companion Corey Joaquim of Swansea, six grandchildren, Joseph W. Lombardi and his husband Frank, Jocelyn Joaquim, Amanda Alves, Jessica Dodge, Caitlin Dodge and Kevin Alves, and his siblings, Thomas, Heidi, Robert and James Dodge and Jackie Bennet. He was predeceased by his brother, Richard Dodge.
His Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, April 3, 2019 at 10:00 AM from Waring-Sullivan Home at Birchcrest, 189 Gardners Neck Road, Swansea, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM in St. Dominic’s Church, 1277 G.A.R. Highway, Swansea. Burial will take place in Vinnicum Woods Cemetery, Swansea. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, April 2 from 4:00-8:00 PM.
