Joseph Brizido

Joseph Brizido, age 69, of Swansea, MA, peacefully passed away on Friday, September 6, 2024, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was the devoted husband of Vivian M. (Marcoux) Brizido, with whom he cherished 48 years of marriage. Joseph’s life was a testament to hard work, love, laughter, and family. He is survived by his two beloved daughters: Kim Brizido (companion Jillian Teixeira and grandchild Andrew) and Cindy Worthen (husband Kyle and grandchildren Shea and Ella). He will also be remembered fondly by his brothers Antonio Sousa and Louis Brizido (wife Elizabeth), his sister Zelia Silva (husband Benjamin), and the late Goreta Brizido. Joseph was a proud uncle to twelve nieces and nephews and eleven great-nieces and great-nephews.

Born and raised in Lomba da Maia, São Miguel, Açores, Portugal, Joseph was the son of the late Jacinto and Maria De Jesus (Abrue) Brizido. Joseph started his career at Sarama Lighting of Fall River and dedicated over 30 years to the United States Postal Service, from which he retired in 2017. Following his retirement, he worked as a part-time driver for Pioneer Heavy Duty Parts Inc. Joseph’s heart was always in the simple pleasures of life. He loved golfing with family and friends, fishing with his grandson Shea, and savoring days at the beach and nights by the fire. His greatest joy came from the moments spent with his family, especially his grandchildren, who were the light of his life.

Friends and family are invited to celebrate Joseph’s life and legacy during visitation on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the Waring-Sullivan Home at Birchcrest, 189 Gardeners Neck Rd., Swansea. A service to honor his life will be held on Thursday, September 12, 2024 at 10:30 AM at the Hillside Country Club, 82 Hillside Ave., Rehoboth, MA 02769. Burial will be private. In remembering Joseph, we honor a life lived with love, kindness, and dedication to those who mattered most to him.
