Born in Fall River, son of the late George S. and Ellen (Whitty) Davis, he was a lifelong Swansea resident. He graduated from Joseph Case High School in 1964, and received both his Bachelor and Master’s Degrees in Engineering from Southeastern Massachusetts Technological Institute, and also earned a Master’s Degree in Business from Rhode Island College.
Mr. Davis was employed as an electrical engineer for over thirty years by the United States Government at NUSC, now NUWC receiving numerous promotions and commendations before retiring in 2003. After retirement he went on to be a Senior Advisor with the ATMC in Fall River. During his time there, he joined the team at Ocean Server as a consultant where he proved to be a great mentor and trusted advisor to many students. Wherever he focused his efforts, John left behind a legacy unsurpassed in helping others achieve success in work and in life.
He was happiest when surrounded by his family and his many dogs. He was very well traveled and enjoyed sharing his worldliness and vast knowledge with his children and grandchildren. He was always challenging his family to be better simply by being himself. He was an avid golfer and loved being on the water, fishing, or just cruising along... Always looking for the next great adventure.
Surviving in addition to his wife are four daughters: Kimberly Medeiros and her husband Kevin of Somerset, Leanne Sullivan and her husband Keith of Somerset, Erin Wesockes and her husband Timothy of Somerset and Jaclyn Davis of Swansea, one brother: Thomas Davis and his wife Helen of Rehoboth, one sister: Patricia Davis of CA, seven grandchildren; Kevin, Tai, Camden, Davis, Mason, Rylan and Reese and many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be on Saturday, March 29, 2014 from 1:00-4:00PM in the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME OF MEMORIAL TRIBUTE at BIRCHCREST, 189 Gardner’s Neck Road, Swansea. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his memorial celebration following visiting hours at 4:00PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his name can be made to Case High Scholarship Trust, Inc, P.O Box 33 Swansea, Ma 02777. Burial will be private.
