Henry was known for his high energy and enthusiasm for his work and hobbies. As a youth, he was an avid outdoorsman, fisherman and hunter, and was an amazing marksman with a high power rifle. He also was an extraordinary swimmer and high diver.
He joined the Navy at the onset of WWII, and proudly served most of his duty in the South Pacific. He was an exceptionally gifted craftsman and was a master furniture designer and builder as well as an extremely talented metal worker of unparalled skill in welding and metal fabrication.
Later in his career he was an estimator and design engineer, but his heart was always with his tools. He raised champion level Beagles for many years and was an early member of the Bay State Beagle Club. Later in life, he became a “Born Again Christian” and self educated Bible Scholar. He was very witty and loved to laugh and tell jokes.
He leaves two sons Henry Dumas of Dartmouth and Richard Dumas of Assonet, a sister Theresa Bigos of CT and a sister Eleanor Martineau of FL. Private arrangements are in the care of the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME OF MEMORIAL AT BIRCHCREST, Swansea.
