Henry A. Dion

Henry A. Dion, age 91, of Berkley passed away April 9, 2024. He was the loving husband of the late Beatrice A. “Bea” (Lachance) Dion to whom he was married for 58 years. Born in Swansea, he was a son of the late Henry J. and Adele (Parent) Dion. He lived in Swansea for most of his life before moving to Berkley 19 years ago.

Henry was a veteran of the United States Army, attaining the rank of Corporal. He spent 55 years working in the local iron industry, starting as an ironworker and becoming a foreman for the last 25 years before retiring in 1995. He was a graduate of Joseph Case High School, Class of 1951, and was a member of Iron Workers Union Local 7. Henry received a Marion Medal from Bishop Cronin.

Survivors include his daughters: Paulette D’Amato of Fayetteville, NC, Claudette Boucher of Berkley, and Michelle Dion of Fall River; his son, David Dion of New Bedford; his sister, Jeannine Moss of Swansea; 8 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was the father-in-law of the late Frank D’Amato and brother of the late Annette L. Pineau, Beatrice Lachance, Bernard Dion and Irene Lake.

His funeral will be held Monday, April 15, 2024 at 9:00 am from the Waring-Sullivan Home at Birchcrest, 189 Gardners Neck Road, Swansea followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 am in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 530 Gardners Neck Road, Swansea.
