Franklin P. Smith Sr.

Born in Fall River, a son of the late Merton and Josephine Smith, he had been a lifelong area resident.

A graduate of B.M.C. Durfee High School, class of 1927, Mr. Smith was a Licensed Realtor and lifelong Insurance Agent. He worked at Kemper Insurance in Boston and the Providence Washington Insurance Company. He was associated with Maury Kusinitz Insurance in Fall River prior to he and his son owning and operating the former Smith Insurance now Frank Smith Insurance and Real Estate until his retirement in 1972.

Mr. Smith was one of the founding men and Board Member of St. Michael’s Credit Union, the Cedar Cove Club, and the Swansea Ambulance Corps. He was on the Board of Directors for the former Troy and Lafayette Banks, was a member of the Swansea Lion’s Club, the Quequechan Club in Fall River, and liked to golf, travel, and sail.

He is survived by one son, Franklin P. “Sandy” Smith Jr. and his wife Gloria C. “Julie” of Swansea, MA, ten grandchildren, and thirteen great grandchildren. He was father of the late Norman B. Smith.

His Visiting Hours will be held Monday, December 6, 2010 from 4:00 to 7:00PM in the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME OF MEMORIAL TRIBUTE at BIRCHCREST 189 Gardner’s Neck Rd. Swansea. His Funeral Mass will be private.
