Elizabeth (Libby) A. (Phillips) (Simpson) Hawley, age 80, of Swansea, MA and Sanibel, FL passed away on Tuesday, March 28, 2023. She leaves behind her beloved husband Robert Hawley; three children from a previous marriage, Susan Neimic of Burrillville, RI, Steven Simpson of Simpsonville, SC, and David Simpson of Tiverton, RI; four grandchildren, William Neimic, Rachel Neimic, Alyssa Simpson, and Benjamin Simpson and many other family and friends.
Born in Fall River, MA on July 18, 1942, the daughter of the late Raymond and Susie (Singleton) Phillips. Libby graduated from Durfee High School in Fall River, MA before marrying her first husband in 1961 and raising her three children in Rehoboth, MA. She attended Bristol Community College in the 1980s and graduated with an associate in science degree. After graduation, Libby worked as a clinical laboratory technician. She was baptized in the Episcopal Church and was a member of Christ Church in Swansea, MA. She was an animal lover, avid reader, enjoyed the movies and watching birds at the feeder, and spending time with friends.
Burial will be private. All are invited to a memorial service at Christ Church, 57 Main St., Swansea, MA on Saturday, April 29 at 11 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations in her name may be made to the Town of Swansea Animal Shelter, 68 Stevens Road, Swansea, MA 02777.
