She was born in Tiverton, RI, the daughter of the late Frank and Delia (Lebreux) Sylvia. As a child her family lived in New York, where she was confirmed at St. Patrick's Cathedral in NYC. Upon the families return to the Fall River area, Elaine attended the Dominican Academy in Fall River and she worked for many years at the former Louis Hand curtain factory. Elaine was also a long time communicant of the former St. Michael’s Parish in Swansea.
She is survived by her daughter Wendy L. Jean-Sullivan and her husband Stephen of Swansea; two grandchildren Colin S. and Catherine E. Sullivan; a sister Deanna Stevens and her husband John of Fall River and several nieces and nephews including Lea Amorin and her husband Paul of Swansea and their children Jordan and Olivia.
Mrs. Jean was also the sister of the late Doris Burns, Evelyn Crossley and Jeanne Boscoe.
Her funeral will be held on Monday, August 24, 2015 at 9AM from the Waring-Sullivan Home of Memorial Tribute at Birchcrest, 189 Gardners Neck Rd., Swansea followed by her funeral mass at 11am in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 530 Gardners Neck Rd., Swansea. Visitation will be Monday prior to her mass from 9 to 10:30AM. Memorial contributions in her honor may be made to the FLY Foundation, 550 Locust St., Fall River, MA 02720. Entombment will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Fall River.
