Edward A. Dymek, age 84, of Swansea, passed away Saturday, November 16, 2019 in Charlton Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of the late Margaret A. (Dorr) Dymek and the late Barbara J. (Marquis) Dymek.
Born in Providence, Rhode Island, a son of the late Adam and Mary (Piaczyk) Dymek, he resided in Pawtucket for a brief period of time settling in Warwick where he lived for thirty years before moving to Swansea.
A graduate of La Salle Academy, Class of 1953, he received his business degree from Bryant University. He was a Veteran of the United States Army and was stationed in Wahiawa, Hawaii.
Mr. Dymek worked as a Manager at both the Newport Creamery and McDonald’s for many years. He also worked as an Insurance Agent at Metropolitan and as a car salesman.
He was a communicant of St. Clements Church in Warwick where he served on the Parish Council and was a member of their bowling and golf leagues. While living in Swansea he was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church.
An avid golfer, he enjoyed vacationing in Florida and cooking, especially for his children and grandchildren, who will always remember his Apple Johnny Cakes. Mr. Dymek was an all-around handyman and his favorite saying was “Jack of all trades, master of none.”
He is survived by his daughter, Lori Ann Kirch and her husband James of Scituate, RI; son, Stephen M. Dymek and his wife Connie of TX; step-son, Darrell Shoesmith of Swansea; step-daughter, Michelle Cote and her husband Wayne of Swansea; brother, John Dymek of Providence; eight grandchildren, Tiffany Ryan, Brandie Cambio, Courtney Cambio, Aaron Dymek, Christopher Kirch, Stephanie Dymek, Allison Kirch and Isiah Dymek; five step-grandchildren, Jacob, Danielle, Nicole, Tammy and Carolyn and many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Karen Ann Cambio, step-father of the late Robyn Shoesmith, brother of the late Lucy E. Lopatosky and Irene Dymek and step-grandfather of the late Eric Aubin.
His Visitation will be held Wednesday, November 20, 2019 from 8:00 to 9:30AM in the Waring-Sullivan Home at Birchcrest, 189 Gardners Neck Rd., Swansea , followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00AM in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 530 Gardners Neck Rd., Swansea. Relatives and friends invited. Contributions in his honor may be made to the American Cancer Society, 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701 or to the American Heart Association, 300 5th Avenue, Waltham, MA 02451. Burial in Massachusetts National Cemetery at Bourne.
