Dorothy D. Norman

Dorothy (Donaldson) Norman, age 99, formerly of Swansea, MA, passed away on July 9th at Clifton Assisted Living in Somerset, MA. She was the wife of the late Robert Norman. Born in Fall River, MA in 1923, Dorothy would have turned 100 on December 3rd. She was the daughter of the late Randall and Estelle (Smithson) Donaldson and sister of the late Randall Jr., Charles and Robert Donaldson.

Dorothy was a graduate of B.M.C. Durfee High School and Bryant College. She was a Branch Officer of Durfee-Attleboro Bank, now Bank of America, for 27 years. In her retirement, she prepared taxes for Norman, Graham and DiGangi and served as a volunteer tax preparer for the IRS’s VITA Program, serving low-income families. A member of the First Christian Congregational Church in Swansea, she taught Sunday School and volunteered in its’ Thrifty Shoppe for many years. She was also a member of the Women’s Club in Fall River and Fort Nightly. Dorothy enjoyed reading, gardening and being with her family.

Dorothy is survived by her son Dana Norman and his wife Claudia, and her daughter Nancy Allen. She leaves three grandchildren, Lisa Graham (David), Steven Norman, and Rebecca (Jared) Leonhardt. She was the great grandmother of Emily, Brian and Andrew Graham, and Weston and Emerson Leonhardt, all of Swansea. She was the mother-in-law of the late Robert Allen.

Her visitation will be Saturday, July 15, 2023 from 9:00 – 11:00 AM in the Waring-Sullivan Home at Birchcrest, 189 Gardners Neck Rd., Swansea, followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00 AM. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, Swansea. In lieu of flowers contribution may be made to First Christian Congregational Church 1113 GAR Highway, Swansea, MA 02777.
