Born in Fall River, she was the daughter of the late Homer and Eva (Mathieu) Messier, and a was a longtime resident of Swansea.
Constance was a graduate of the former Dominican Academy and a dedicated homemaker. She enjoyed knitting and, most of all, cherished the time spent with her family.
She is survived by her daughter, Sharlene McGovern and her husband Robert of Barrington, RI; her son, Kevin C. Reid and his wife Sandra of DeBary, FL; three grandchildren, Jennifer Giles and her husband Sean of Barrington, Colin McGovern and his wife Jessica of Westwood, MA, Lauren McGovern Hall and her husband Job of North Kingstown, RI; and four great-grandchildren, Olivia Giles, Alden, June McGovern, and Ruby Hall. She also leaves many nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late James W. Reid, Jr., and sister of the late Conrad and Homer Messier.
Her funeral will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at 9:00 AM from the Waring-Sullivan Home at Birchcrest, 189 Gardners Neck Road, Swansea followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 530 Gardeners Neck Rd., Swansea. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours will be held Friday from 5:00 to 7:00 PM.
