Born in New York City, a son of the late August A. and Lidia J. (Voigt) Baum, he was a longtime area resident having lived in Swansea, Somerset and Westport.
Cliff received an associate’s degree from Bronx Community College in Mechanical Engineering in 1972 and was a Veteran of the United States Army.
He worked as a Mechanical Engineer for over 40 years retiring in 2009 and was a member of A.S.H.R.A.E, the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers. Cliff was a DIYer, known for his love of building and remodeling. His passion for learning and creating was matched only by his lifelong interest in history.
He is survived by one daughter, Jennifer Valcourt of Westport; one son, Michael Baum and his wife Barbara of Amherst, NH; five grandchildren, Mackenzie Valcourt and her husband Alex and Alex Valcourt of Westport, Gunnar Baum and his wife Sydney of CA, Hunter and Taylor Baum of NH, several nieces and nephews and one great granddaughter on the way Maisyn Ann. He was the brother of the late Ralph Baum.
